With the counting day nearing fast, there is anxiety on who would be the next Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Many Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders are learnt to be getting ready to switch their loyalty in view of their political future. In 2014, as many as 23 MLAs who won on the YSR Congress ticket had bid adieu to the party and joined the TDP. This time, these leaders will have no problem if the TDP wins.
Coming to the YSRCP, those winning the elections and close to the party chief would stick to the party but others would want to join the TDP as it would be a very long time for them sitting in the opposition benches. Already, the party served as the main opposition party for eight years and if this time too, if the party does not win, it would be a total of 13 years. Not just the YSRC, any party would face a problem being in the opposition for so long. They would certainly look for greener pastures and try to jump on to the ruling party’s bandwagon.
Are 25 TDP and YSRCP Leaders Ready to Jump as per results..
If YSRCP comes to power, around 25 TDP leaders, it is learnt, are ready to switch their loyalty. A majority of these leaders have business establishments in neighbouring Telangana, apart from being involved in several business transactions in AP. In this backdrop, these leaders should have the support of the ruling party. Else, they would face a lot of financial trouble.
The leaders planning to switch loyalty include those from Guntur, Krishna, Visakhapatnam, Prakasam and Nellore districts. Another minister from the Godavari districts is also learnt to be preparing to join the YSRCP, if the TDP gets defeated in the elections. In Visakhapatnam district too, there a couple of leaders ready to follow suit.
However, a few leaders in the TDP are viewing this as a positive development. Some of them say that after spending heavily during the elections, the candidates expect to earn back all that they had spent along with the interest and there is nothing wrong in that.
